Douglas Lee

Partner and Principal

Douglas was qualified in Hong Kong in 2012. Prior to founding Lee & Yik Lawyers, Douglas served at a prestigious commercial and maritime law firm for 7 years, having developed a broad based contentious and non-contentious practice. He serves a wide spectrum of clients, from local businesses, ocean carriers to multinational corporations and listed companies, Chinese and Asian enterprises to European companies.

Douglas handles a wide range of legal matters, including civil and criminal litigation and alternative dispute resolution, bankruptcy and insolvency, shipping, immigration, property and matrimonial matters. Douglas is also experienced in assisting clients in handling criminal investigations by public authorities, such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption and the Securities and Future Commission.

Douglas has abundant experience advising cross-border transactions, including large scale debt recovery action across multiple jurisdictions, and sale and purchase of ships or other shipping assets. He is also experienced in handling arbitration both at Hong Kong (HKIAC arbitration) and in Singapore (London Maritime Arbitration Association arbitration), as well as in giving evidence in aid of proceedings of courts at foreign jurisdictions, such as Thailand and New Zealand.

Douglas graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a degree in history, and obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree while working in the news media.
